US trials herbal treatment for coronavirus

A Chinese herbal formula used to treat coronavirus patients in China is undergoing clinical trials in the US for possible approval for people with mild-to-moderate symptoms of the viral disease. Qingfei Paidu, most commonly called QFPD, is a 21-herb formula whose name literally means “lung cleansing and detoxification.” The US Food and Drug Administration approved a “double-blind randomized control” trial of the treatment in June.

Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has laid out plans to separate its Consumer Health business, which includes personal care brands Neutrogena and Aveeno, as a new publicly listed company. Philippines OK’s vaccine mix-and-match trials

The Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved clinical trials for combining coronavirus vaccine brands, an official from the Department of Science and Technology (DoST) said on Friday. The regulator approved the study on Nov. 16 and has started screening applicants, DoST Undersecretary Rowena Cristina L. Guevara told a televised news briefing.

Khairy: Medical marijuana can be used in Malaysia if it passes national regulations

The health minister said products containing cannabis can be imported and used in Malaysia so long as it adhered to existing laws. The use of medical marijuana is permissible in Malaysia as it does not violate the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, Poisons Act 1952 or the Sale of Drugs Act 1952, the Khairy Jamaluddin said.

Singapore to decide on Covid-19 vaccine for kids aged 5 to 11 in November

An expert committee will make a recommendation on whether to extend the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine to children aged five to 11 in the second half of November. This comes after the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently authorised the use of the Pfizer vaccine for children in that age group.
